The Question Count Changed. Most Guides Haven't Caught Up.
A lot of SHSAT content still circulating online cites 114 total questions (57 per section, from the retired paper-test format). As of the fall 2026 computer-adaptive administration, NYC DOE confirms the SHSAT is 100 questions: 50 English Language Arts and 50 Math, with every student answering the same number of questions while difficulty adjusts to their responses. Same 180-minute window, still no penalty for guessing. If a resource you're reading cites 114 or 57-per-section as current, it's describing the old format.

SHSAT HQ is the operational layer: registration mechanics, test-day logistics, and a straight directory of where each school actually is and how it admits. For scoring math and cutoff-by-school data, SHSATinfo.com covers that in depth.
